Skyball

Last night my parents and brother and I got to attend SkyBall. It is always a great time getting to attend military events especially when i am so thankful that my brother is home safe. But it is hard realizing how many families don't have their solider home! Andy came home for a very quick weekend and it was great seeing him. Connor was so glad his Uncle Bubba was here! Even though it was a short trip we are so glad he was able to be here! A huge thank you to ALL the men and women that serve in the armed forces! Here are a few pics of the weekend!

Catch up from the start of school

So after talking with a friend and asking her to update her blog I realized wow I really should update mine as well! We have been pretty buys since school started back up! Connor is now back in Day Care and loves it! It is so awesome to witness how much he is learning every day. I swear he can say or attempt to say just about anything you ask him! I love watching his little brain work!

Pool day!

So today was the first time in 3 1/2 years I have ever been to the community pool less than a block from our house! Connor had a great time! We were the first ones there and that was nice he had a great time splashing around and once other kids got there he had to be right up in their business! We did have a great time but next time I will for sure put sunscreen on me as well as Connor! He was cover very well but me on the other hand I look like a lobster now!!!

First week home for the summer...

This week has been amazing! Last summer when it was just Connor and I he really couldn't do a whole lot. Man has that changed!!! Wow he is 150% all boy and is completely on the move every moment he is awake!!! Make for one exhausting but extremely rewarding summer!

So far we have gone to the park and played, been to the splash park with all of his friends from daycare!, of course gone shopping at the mall, spent the day inside in our PJ's because is was raining, and hopefully today we will go out to get Jason's fathers day gift!

Mayfest 2012

This weekend we went to Mayfest down off the trinity river in Fort Worth! My parents went with us and we also met up with my college roommate and BFF Erin Hein and her sweet little family!

While we were there we got to walk around and check out all the vendors I wish I would have gone back to buy the dress i wanted! Oh well! We spent most of the time at the playground with Connor! He LOVES to be outside! It is his favorite thing in the world. He also played in the huge sand pile and met a little girl that has his same birthday. Mayfest is know for it's horrible weather every year but this year it was great! A little hot but perfect for us. The only thing we didn't get was a funnel cake :( I wish we did but my weight is glad we didn't because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't share it if I got one!!! Connor fell asleep on the way back to the car and took a great nap that afternoon.

All in all we had a great time with family and friends!

Connor is 1!!!

Has it really already been a year! I can't believe that he is already one! We have been so blessed with such a wonderful child! How did we get so lucky? Being Connor's mommy is the best job ever! This past year we have done so much! Just to name a few of the major things he has done are:

Gone on a road trip to Nebraska!!!
Meet everyone in his family from great grandparents all the way down to his youngest cousin Austin!
Been on a plane to N. Carolina!
Been to the beach (slept most of the time)
Had his first ER trip
Met Santa (and didn't cry)
Gone swimming
Been Baptized
Over night stays with both grandparents (2 nights each while we were in Mexico)
Gone rock climbing!
Ran a 5k with mommy!

29 1/2 in. tall
21 lbs 6 oz in weight
47 for head circumference!

Thank you Connor for being the best thing that ever happened to your daddy and I! We love you more than words can describe!

Playroom is in the works!

So Connor's playroom is getting to look more and more like a playroom and less like a empty dining room like it has been for the last 3 years! We(Jason and my dad) painted it last weekend then this past weekend we rearranged our furniture to make room for our new living room set and to have some stuff in the playroom to sit on instead of just the floor! We still have to get curtains and some storage units and decorate but other than that it will be done by his birthday!!! Which is right around the corner and sooo crazy to think that he will be 1 in a little over a month!!!

Well now we are battling the ever present sick bug in our house! Jason just tested positive for the flu yesterday at the Dr. Yuck he has been banned to the bedroom and told not to come out so hopefully Connor and I will not get it!!! Especially since my spring break is next week and I want to fully enjoy my time off with my little man!!!

Connor is now full on walking and only crawling maybe a couple times a day and giving so many kisses which I just adore! He melts my heart every time I ask for a kiss and actually get one. He can also wave hello and bye'bye which is just so cute and loves to clap he also loves the song "If your happy and you know it...."! We are working on blowing kisses and hopefully hugs! I can not wait and am so incredibly blessed beyond belief by him! God sure did give me just what I needed in the perfect little boy! I can not thank him enough!

Yep here it is lil man is walking!!!

First steps...

This weekend we a monumental weekend for the little man!!! He took his first 2 steps at Honey and Papa Bear's house! Not very confident yet but yes he did do it! He has been trying so hard to get this walking thing down since then. Every night when we play before bedtime we work on getting him to take some steps. It's not a big deal because I know he will do it when he is ready but it is so exciting to see these milestones being reached! I will try to get him walking on video soon!



We also found out that he is terrified of our friends dog. It was so weird we were over there for the super bowl and the dog did absolutely nothing and Connor flipped out! I have never seen him get upset like that before because he loves our dog Puma and my parents dog Sadie! So we don't know what it was about this particular dog but oh he was so scared!

From super cranky to super happy...

What a week!!!

Monday and Tuesday Connor turned into his alter ego Sheldon! The way we got the name was from the T.V. show The Big Bang Theory. We watch it every night and no Connor doesn't act like Sheldon from that show but we needed a name for his alter ego and it just works! Anyway, he was not a happy camper to say the least either of those 2 night when I went to pick him up. I think it's partially because he has gotten so many teeth in such a short amount of time his mouth it is really hurting him. Poor baby because I know he loves to eat but not either of those nights no way he would not eat his dinner! Let's hope we get some time off of teething for a little bit and super happy Connor comes back to stay for a while! Last night that was just how he was! VERY happy once we got home and played forever (10pm)! But he was extremely happy and laughing/giggling up a storm so of course we played all night! I absolutely laugh every time I hear him laughing because a babies laugh is just so contagious! He is starting to get pretty attached to his lovie and is now crawling and pulling up with it in his mouth he even cruises along the couches! Pretty cute if you ask me! We had such a fun time last night and I can't wait for more nights like that! He is now a speed demon crawler and loves with walk with his walker everywhere. And if you turn on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse he gets so excited and dances to the hot dog song bouncing up and down pointing at mickey. I just love this kid so much and he has brought so much joy to our lives it is amazing!



This was him super happy clapping because he loves the Helicopter that his Uncle Bubba gave him! Not quite as big as the one he flies but maybe soon we can go get in U.B.'s real Helicopter!

Cook's ER...

Well the last 32-48 hours have been crazy here! Connor started a fever yesterday morning and I figured it was just him teething (he did just cut his top right and I see the top left right under the gums). Anyway, it never went down and just kept going up even after having Tylenol! That made me really nervous so we called our after hours nurse at our Dr.'s office and she said to take him to Cook Children's ER downtown. This was at about 2 am! He had not been his normal self most of the day and was refusing to eat which he never does so I knew something was wrong! After talking about it for a good while we decided to wait and see if he could get some sleep after the last dose we gave him and then go from there. Well this morning he was still coughing going on 3 weeks now and fever was still present so we took him to the ER! When we checked in it was still 104! So after all the testing and X rays we were sent home diagnosed with a bad viral infection!!! Boo nothing you can do for that just wait it out and treat the symptoms with more Tylenol. He hadn't eaten since the night before and couldn't keep anything down. Tomorrow we will be following up with our pediatrician and thank goodness I have the day off so we can all continue to rest and get him feeling better!

This really is completely different having to see your child go through testing and being poked and messed with instead of me which I have been use to most of my life! I don't mind needles at all except when they are hurting my baby! Thank goodness for having our parents close by because Mammie (Jason's mom) brought us lunch and held him for us while we could take a quick hour nap and my parents brought over dinner! We truly blessed to have our families close by!

Well now that Connor is a little older and I feel like I have a little better grip on this parenting stuff I am going to try out this whole blog thing again! My goal is to update this as much as possible (not everyday people) but often and record what's going on in our life!!! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and very Happy New Year!!!
